The Manhattan Beach Preschool is committed to providing a high quality preschool education for children ages 2 through 5 years. At the Manhattan Beach Preschool, we focus on creating an interesting and nurturing environment where children experience a variety of age-appropriate activities that focus on developing a broad range of skills.

The Manhattan Beach Preschool's experienced and credentialed staff understands the skills required to meet the challenges of the Manhattan Beach Unified School District's school-aged programs. They have created a learning environment that encourages and challenges children to develop the appropriate cognitive, social, communication, physical, and self-help skills that form the foundation for later learning in their elementary school years and beyond.

The Manhattan Beach Preschool's programs are based on a child-centered philosophy. Daily activities are planned and implemented according to the individual interests and needs of the child. Through play and hands-on experience, the use of developmentally appropriate materials, and interactions with knowledgeable and caring adults, children develop the skills necessary to become confident, independent, and successful learners.

The MBP program is based on an understanding of developmental and pre-academic milestones in multiple areassocial, emotional, communication, cognitive, and physical –and of what children can do at each stage of their development. We recognize each child as an individual and that each child’s growth process includes unique strengths, needs, special interests, and life experiences.

Children learn best when they have the freedom to make choices, to develop relationships by sharing with others, and to interact with stimulating materials in developmentally appropriate activities. MBP uses the Clifford program to develop our student’s pre-academic skills and create developmental activities for the whole child. This program helps children build self-esteem and develop a healthy sense of individuality and independence, and it provides them with the confidence they need to take risks, overcome challenges, and strengthen values.
